Anthony J Cassar
Chairman and Managing Director of Marsovin Winery
Anthony J Cassar is the former Chairman and managing director of Marsovin winery, one of the most famous wine-makers in all of Malta. The company was founded more than 90 years ago by Mr. Cassar’s grandfather and has always been a family owned company. Anthony Cassar took over the business when he was merely in his twenties but quickly adapted to ownership of the company and helped make Marsovin a household nam, not only in Malta but across Europe. Under Mr. Cassar’s guidance, Marsovin became the recipient of the 1997 gold medal at the Challenge International du Vin in France and achieved the 2009 gold medal Emozioni Dal Mondo, a wine competition in Italy. With over 30 years of experience as one of the pioneers of wine-making in Malta, Mr. Cassar has since retired from management of Marsovin, but has continued the legacy of the business; his son, Jeremy, is now the manager of Marsovin. Jeremy A Cassar has since pushed the company to spread into international markets, in the hope of solidifying Marsovin as a major winery, akin to those in Napa, California, France and elsewhere. present at the Marsovin winery, tending to the vines and, occasionally, wine tastings. Marsovin also holds wine competitions and festivals at their estate and across Malta. While the Cassar family has upholded their values of family, service and culture, they are seeking to branch into new territories and spread the wealth of Maltese wine-making to other countries. Wine-making and tasting is an inherent part of Maltese culture and community. The Cassar family has held tight to the Maltese community and continues to be an inviting presence to the Maltese people; under the initiative of Jeremy A Cassar, Marsovin began the first Maltese Winery Club, which invites all those who come to Malta to enjoy the wine and history, not only of the Marsovin history but to share and learn about Maltese culture. Throughout their years as a staple force in Malta, Mr. Cassar, his family and predecessors, have held themselves to the highest standards and share their knowledge and delicacies with others, to enforce a mindset of community, culture, history and friendship.
